Andrew Calkins: Performance Technician

Andrew joined the National Speed Wilmington team as Performance Technician, with a Ford-packed background both professionally and personally!  Leading up to joining the team, Andrew worked for over 8 years as a Ford technician, all the while building high-performance Mustangs on the side, and in that time even made an appearance on the TV show Car Warriors as one of their all-star builders.

Over the years, Andrew has owned & built 7 Mustangs, including his current lineup: his 600whp VMP2300-equipped Screaming Yellow 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, and his 750whp CPR turbocharged, Borg Warner 7687 fed, TH400 converted, stock-block 2012 Ford Mustang GT.  While his Terminator is set up to be a fun street car, his S197 Coyote is built with a heavy focus on drag racing (while still maintaining the street-car comforts).  To date, Andrew has clicked off a best ET of 9.54 at 144mph, with his short-term goal of 9.3x well within striking distance – from there, he’s just a built short block & more boost away from his target 8-second ET range!

While Andrew certainly loves his Fords, he’s all about increasing performance, no matter the vehicle.  During his time with the company, Andrew has delivered fantastic results with everything he’s touched from engine builds on Subarus, to camshafts & superchargers on Dodges, to turbocharger upgrades on Nissan GT-Rs, and everything in between.  It goes without saying that Andrew is an incredible addition to the National Speed team!
