Justin brought us his super clean 2013 Subaru WRX STI for an IAG short block, Flex Fuel conversion, and get into the mid-400awhp range!
Up first in the shop, starting with a Stage 2 Tuff short block from IAG Performance, Dylan rebuilt the EJ257 with brand new OEM Subaru gaskets & seals, WRX STI 11mm oil pump, V2 oil pump pickup tube from IAG Performance, OEM Subaru timing components with a Blue racing belt from Gates, fasteners from ARP, Flex Fuel conversion from COBB Tuning including ID1050x fuel injectors from Injector Dynamics, custom equal length header & up-pipe, MV-S wastegate from TiAL Sport, FP Blue turbocharger from Forced Performance Turbochargers, turbocharger inlet from COBB Tuning, down-pipe from Invidia Exhaust connecting to the existing Invidia exhaust system, Street Series air/oil separator from IAG Performance, twin-disc clutch kit EXEDY USA, aluminum radiator from Mishimoto Automotive, all working perfectly with the existing modifications including an air-intake system from GrimmSpeed, blow-off valve from GFB, and top-mount intercooler from Process West.
With the mechanical work wrapped in the shop, John strapped her down to the rollers for Vlad to perform a custom Flex Fuel Pro Tune via COBB Tuning‘s V3 Accessport. Starting with 93 octane in the tank and with the FP Blue delivering 18psi, Vlad increased the EJ257’s output to 390.01awhp & 367.67lbft. Then moving on to E85, with the FP Blue delivering 25psi, output increased to 445.32awhp & 442.46lbft! Perfect power level for a ridiculously fun street STI, that Justin is sure to enjoy!
